A big change in climate may have an effect on the canvas, though the effect can usually be fixed by retightening the canvas to the stretcher bars or applying a small amount of spritzed water to the back of the canvas, which will contract the canvas as it dries.

Rainier Sunset – oil on canvas – 14″ x 18″ – 2023

As I learn new things about color and contrast, I am always (always!) inspired to try new stuff. This painting is inspired by some of the classic interpretations of landscape painting. I really wanted to showcase the majestic beauty of Mt Rainier, using color and values to my advantage, while also creating more of a lingering mood.
